Jealousy

Jealously is the next topic on my list. There are several ways to experience jealously which range from, “wow, I wish I had that to eat,” to, “did she just look at you?”

What Is Jealousy?

‘Jealousy is a complex emotion that encompasses feelings ranging from fear of abandonment to rageand humiliation. It strikes people of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations, and is most typically aroused when a person perceives a threat to a valued relationship from a third party. The threat may be real or imagined,’As defined from Psychology Today.

What fear do we have that causes jealousy – yes, abandonment is one it what about not having what others have – like you want a phone someone else has because you perceive it as being better than your own?

The fear of loosing things you love? The rage of someone being better than you?

These all stem from social bonds and the things that motivate us. In this time in our lives, we are stuck home and having to relearn to love what we have as we wait for the virus to peak and wane.

When you see yourself becoming jealous, step back and ask yourself why? Is their phone really better? Is the person your partner talking to better than you at something that might spark their interest, if so, what is it? Why does it bother you?

The first lesson with jealously to remember is that we can NOT prevent the behavior of others! Think about that for a moment. We teach our kids how to behave and then once they are away from you they may do the opposite. You have control ONLY over your own behaviors and reactions.

Find peace within yourself and then you will find peace within life.
